Chia Seeds, The Superfood of Ancient America

You may or may not be familiar with chia seeds, but it is a tiny seed that grows in only the driest climates in the world, mainly the Southwestern U.S. and Australia, where its largest farm in the world is located.  If there is a Superman in the world of whole foods, it has to be chia seeds!  Why?  Let me give you a few just a few benefits of chia seeds...
Chia seeds contain the highest concentration of omega-3 fatty acids in the world, which is the most nutritious fat for our bodies.  You would have to two servings of salmon (the next highest concentration of omega-3's) just to get the same amount of omega-3 fats from 1 tbs. of chia seeds!  It undoubtedly makes the chia seed a "brain food".

Chia seeds are a dieters dream come true also.  With its high fiber content, you can eat a serving of chia seeds and feel full for hours.  Hunger is a main enemy of weight loss, and if you control it, you will experience successful weight loss in no time.  Don't reach for those dangerous weight loss pills that make you nervous and jittery all day.  Chia seeds is a much more effective alternative.

The amazing effectiveness of chia seeds even leaves its print on history.  Many Native American tribes would eat chia seeds before running for hundreds of miles at a time!  They would simply tie a pocket around their belt full of the seeds and eat them on the journey.  The Aztecs valued chia seeds so much that they would often use them as currency.  To this day, the Tarahumara Indians of northern Mexico continue running such long distances using this seed as a staple in their diet.

As far as the way you eat the seed, its really up to you.  One thing I love about chia seeds is that you can use them on anything.  I can be easily turned into "Chia jel" by adding it to water.  It can also be added to bread, smoothies, cereal etc.  Recipes with chia seeds are endless!  I've never been a big fan of the "Chia jel" as I don't like anything with a gooey texture, so my favorite way to eat chia seeds is eating them raw and dry, straight from the spoon.

There you have it!  I hope you've learned a few intriguing facts about these seeds in this article.  I have felt so amazing health-wise since I've started eating these seeds, and I highly recommend you give it a shot as well.  The chia seeds health benefits is truly amazing.  It is one of the greatest "superfoods" you can ever eat and it will work wonders to your health!
